LOTHAR MAERTINS (born 1956)

An artist from Berlin, who since 2006 has been living and working in Oderbruch. He was inspired by the Brandenburg landscapes to create contemplative works that touch upon the traces of the past in the present. The uniqueness of these relief paintings is based on a special technique consisting of colouring the gypsum with natural or acrylic paints. Then, the structures and motifs are introduced, and the gold and silver stripes so characteristic of the artist's works, are imposed on the intense color scheme. While gold remains unchanged, silver changes its appearance over time. This process, known as patization, is supported by the artist during the work or the artist leaves the work to its own evolution.
