MARCIN MURAWSKI (born 1974)

Altoviolist with international reputation.

He graduated with honors from the
Ignacy Jan Paderewski Academy of Music in Poznań (1998), then he continued his education at the Royal Jutland Music Academy in Aarhus (Denmark). He is a laureate of international competitions, solo and chamber music, including in Poznań (1993), Łódź (1998) and Sopot (Grand Prix 2002).

He gives lively concerts as a soloist and chamber musician, performing at prestigious festivals in Poland as well as in Austria, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, France, Georgia, the Netherlands, Iceland, Lithuania, Latvia, Germany, Norway, Slovakia, Sweden, Ukraine, in Italy, in the USA (including Carnegie Hall) and in New Zealand.

He is also a valued academic teacher - a doctor in musical arts and an associate professor at the Academy of Music in Poznań as well as an educator of many graduates - winners of prizes and distinctions. He regularly conducts master classes in viola and chamber music in Europe (Bergen, Reykjavik, Dublin, Riga, Tallinn, Tibilisi), in the USA and in New Zealand (Wellington). He has been a member of the jury of national competitions multiple times, he is also an expert at the Center for Artistic Education. He collaborates with the label Acte Préalable, for which, alongside compositions from past eras, he records contemporary works - including specially dedicated to him, including American creator and viola player Michael Kimber.

He belongs to the International Viola Society, the Australian and New Zealand Viola Society and the Hummel Gesellschaft in Weimar.
